Unveiling the Logo for the Official Kansas 19th Amendment Centennial Celebration

December 21, 2018

Did you know Kansas was the fourth state in the nation to ratify the 19 th Amendment giving women the right to vote? The state’s official celebration of this watershed moment will be held in Wichita in August 2020. To begin promotions and planning, the event needed a brand and a web presence.

The logo and word mark developed by Howerton+White represent a bit of iconography from the past with a forward-leaning vibe for today. Historical suffrage imagery influenced the classic silhouette of a woman’s face while patriotic stars lend the logo an emblematic feel. The choice of metallic silver, bronze and gold are also symbolic of achievement.

A one-page website features a diverse array of women’s faces, helping to communicate the event’s inclusive reach. The theme, “Unity, Courage and Leadership” frame the celebration’s goals — to recognize past, present and future women leaders and educate and inspire the next generation.
